Giveaway Winners & Deck of Cards Workout

I have a couple of boot camp classes to catch you up on. Our last scheduled class is tomorrow night. I can’t believe how fast the month went! But you know what they say, time flies when you’re working out (OK, no one really says that do they!?)

Boot Camp Workout – Deck of Cards

At Saturday’s class, they introduced the “deck of cards” workout. Basically, you take a full deck of cards (Jokers included) and select 4 main exercises, one per suit. Aces are a random exercise as are jokers. Then each time you turn the card over, you complete that many reps of the exercise selected. Here’s how ours broke down:

  • Hearts – Tuck Jumps (half a mountain climber, in push-up position, bring both feet up towards hands and spring them back again)
  • Clubs – Reptile Planks (plank position, alternate drawing knee to elbow)
  • Diamonds – Jump Squats (squat low, and jump up so feet leave the ground)
  • Spades – Pushups
  • Aces – 10 burpees
  • Jokers – 30 jumping jacks

So if the first card turned over was the 6 of spades, you’d complete 6 pushups. We waited until each person in the class had finished the exercise before moving on to the next one and took brief water breaks ever 15 cards or so. This particular one was brutal because I never do well when many of the exercises require me to put pressure on my wrists. I used a box to assist with the tuck jumps and burpees and that definitely helped though!

The cool thing about a deck of cards workout is that you can make it whatever you want. In fact, you can do quick online searches and find all kinds of interesting ones to try:

These would definitely be fun ways to mix up your workout!

We had a TON of rain last night, so I didn’t have to water the garden. Tonight we’re off to the jersey store to look for some baseball jerseys. We’re still on the fence about whether or not to bother with engagement pictures since the wedding is just around the corner, but figured we’d see if we could find outfits we liked and maybe give it a go.

    That deck of cards workout seems like fun. It wouldn’t get boring.
