Oh what a weekend!
In case you didn’t know, I’m a big NFL football fan. And if you further didn’t know, I’m a diehard Packer-backer. Green Bay is a really amazing town to live in football-wise because everyone backs the Pack and there’s this huge sense of community and pride. On Saturday 80% of the Green Bay population was donned in green and gold and ready to watch some playoff football action!
It started with an amazing showdown between Denver and Baltimore. The game went into the second overtime quarter and it was a nailbiter from start to finish. I was so proud of both teams – they did their fans well! The best part was that I knew I’d be happy with either outcome. My brother Alex is a HUGE Manning fan, so a Denver win would have been great and I really like Ray Lewis – so a Baltimore win would have worked too.
But in the end, Baltimore for the win!
We were pumped up and ready for the next game – featuring the Packers!!
Ben had his beverage of choice (Wisconsin brewed!) and we had football food: pizza!
And oh Packers… you weren’t just bad. The defense was non-existant!
It would have been one thing to lose a great game – like the Denver/Baltimore game – but this was just sad. Both punt returners were tragic, the defense seemed to be all over the place, and more than a couple “missed” opportunities where the QB and WRs weren’t on the same page.
Fail!
Ben’s mood went from happy to this:
Meh.
I guess there’s always next year, right? Now I guess I’ll root for an Atlanta / Baltimore SuperBowl match-up. Really, anyone is OK as long as it’s not the Patriots!
We got a LOT of stuff accomplished this weekend too. Since school starts again this week (already!?) we took some time to get organized. All the Christmas decorations came down (boo hoo hoo) and things are slowly going back to normal.
Ben swept up the needles from the Christmas wreath.
We had a couple days of 40 degree temps, which is beyond crazy and wonderfully awesome. A lot of the snow melted away and the backyard has more grass than snow now! But today the high is only 18 so we’re officially back in normal temps once more.
I’m happy to report that, at LONG last, I think the worst of this January bug is past me. I’ve had it for over a week and while I still have a stuffy nose and the occasional cough, it’s not every 5 minutes anymore. Definitely something to celebrate!
Classes are Wed and Thurs for this semester – so I have just a couple more days before the craziness ensues! Have a wonderful Monday everyone!

Poor Pack! At least the pizza looks yummy!
It was!
I’m a Steelers fan, so now all I can do is route against the Ravens…
Isn’t it funny how our “usual” team will dictate who we root for after they are eliminated? As a rule, I can’t go for the Bears, Vikings, or Cowboys and never liked the Patriots. Plus, since the 49ers knocked us out, I can’t go for them either!
Saturday’s game was such a bummer!
I was so exhausted after the Broncos game that I didn’t watch much of the packers game. My voice hurt, from yelling, too LOL
I really don’t want to see the Patriots in the super bowl again. Snore.
Oh man.. There was a LOT of yelling going on at my house.
UGH!! There is nothing worse than losing a playoff game – especially when you play like crap! I think in the 3rd quarter I kind of gave up on the game… so freaking annoying!
I’m hoping in the draft the Packers can pick up some offensive line help – seriously, we need it.
I can’t decide if we need offensive line or ANYONE defensively more. Seems like we need help all over the place. Argh!
With the draft last year, we did the overhaul of the defensive line… however, when they decide to show up is a different question. So annoying that one game they can play amazingly and the next week they completely crumble!
I say we need to stop letting Rodgers get sacked all the flipping time and give him more time to get the ball to his receivers. Just my thought… who knows what Ted is going to do.
AND – I hope the Ravens go… because I CANNOT stand the Patriots… every time I see Brady, I just want to punch the tv. As for the 49ers or the Falcons… I just can’t decide. Obviously I’m mad that the 49ers took the Packers out… but it was also more the Packers fault than anything… It would be entertaining to see the two Harbaugh brothers (Ravens and 49ers) go to the SuperBowl.
I can’t stand Colin Kaepernick though… I don’t know why… I just can’t stand the kid. So… I’m all up in sorts about who I want to go… And, I want the Lombardi trophy to stay on the NFC side… so I’ll have to cheer for either the Falcons or 49ers… whoever ends up there.
Funny, I am not a fan of Kaepernick either. Not sure why. I think I’m rooting for Baltimore the most because I really like Ray Lewis and since he’s retiring, I’d like for him to win. As for Brady, ugh can he retire already!!??
